“The Best and Worst of Blogging: A Comparison”

A Beautiful Mess

Blogs have become a common way for people to share information, opinions, and stories. For this practice entry I explored  a few different examples: one that grabbed my attention, its organization and style, and another that left me bewildered. In this blog I’ll be comparing and differentiating the two blogs and my aim is to identify what makes a blog effective and ineffective.

I like this blog because it offers a wealth of content, including crafts, décor, recipes, advice, and lifestyle tips. It has many different skills and creative Ideas that one can learn from. The author organizes everything into categories such as home crafts, sewing, and decor, subcategories. For example, on the home you'll find Halloween cake pops, punch bowls, jello shots, cupcakes, cocktails, sauces, desserts and dinner recipes. When you click on one it opens more related posts. Food, appetizers, and snacks are also grouped in the same way, making it easy to find what you need. I like this blog because it provides life saving information that helps reduce cost and grocery trips by showing how to make essentials yourself. It also inspires creativity and teaches you how To do things on your own.

The blog is descriptive, with step by step recipes supported by pictures for each stage, and there is even a cookbook available for hard copy access.  And the formatting makes it easy to follow. When you click on the picture, it takes you straight to the related post. There are also links to their podcast policies and about page the blog is well organized with categories like decor, DIY, style, crafts, and holiday recipes. Each category has subcategories ( living, dining, bedroom, kitchen, outdoor, plants, offices), all with pictures and step by step instructions. The format is structured and presented with text sections, headings,   subheadings and even bullet points to break up the content. Creativemindspeaks

The purpose of the blog is to help others discover new ideas and learn how to make things at home.  the tone is confident and professional, sounding like an expert. The detailed information, organized categories, and supportive visuals accomplish this purpose. This blog is informative creative and well structured someone can benefit from it because it provides organized, detailed content, clear formatting, and useful ideas that apply to everyday life.

Cup and Jo

This Blog gives less detailed information on the topic listed, and most of the topics lack supporting details. Based on her travel blog the structure, grammar, and mechanics make it hard for the reader to comprehend. You can tell this is a personal blog because it’s focused on different lifestyle experiences with her family and how they explore they explore different cultures through their trips. Many of her pictures are family oriented, her tone is warm and humorous and a lot of punctuation errors occurred.  I don't like this blog because the lack of structure and organization makes the reader feel bewildered.

The format is not effective. The blog is divided into sections but lacks clear headings or subheadings, so everything just flows together and becomes hard to follow. The post are short with quick updates which is way different from the first blog. The layout is mostly text divided into sections, but there are no headings or bullet points to break it up. The posts are short, made up of quick paragraphs, and there are no numbered tips.

The blog follows a storytelling style. However, unlike the first blog, the information is not divided into clear sections or titles, and it’s not presented in a list format. Instead, the content is written step by step, more like a timeline. The images are clear and easy to understand, and the blog categories to help guide the reader. The author’s purpose seems to be to engage the audience with her lifestyle, travel experiences, food recipes, family trips, motherhood, and  relationships while persuading readers to try new foods, and shoes mainly for entertainment. Familytime

It  important to put your readers first while making a blog because their opinion and perspective on your blog post matters. Thanks for reading.
